Recent news:07-May-2012: Congratulations to the Navy Seal's Patrol who came 2nd in the Galway County Plate Competition 2012. The patrol led by Darragh had a great weekend on the camp in Lough Keel and only narrowly missed out on the top spot. 07-May-2012: Congratulations to the Platypus Patrol who came 2nd in the Galway County Shield Competition 2012. The patrol led by Sinead had a great weekend on the county camp in Lough Keel and put on a great show! 04-Apr-2012: 10th Galway Portumna Scouts are organising an 8k Fun Run at PortumnaForest Park on Sunday, 15th April at 12.30pm. Entry is a mere €10 -€5 for under 18's. The race will be through solid roads within theForest Park, taking in all the scenic routes. The course is measuredand marked properly and we will have water stations in place. A cuppaand a sambo will be provided afterwards. The race is being organised as a fundraiser for our upcoming ScoutSection trip to France. A great night was had by all. Thanks again to everyone who supported the group through this fundraising event. 16-Mar-2012: Congratulation to Sinead W; Roisin D; Eoin H; Brein M and Eoin S who were all presented with the National Scout Awards by Noel Leahy (Galway County Commissioner) last Friday night in the scout den. Well done to all once again, a great achievement you should be proud off. Also awarded on the night were 3 leadership service awards to Paul (5 years); Eamon (10 years) and Philip (20 years). 07-Mar-2012: Millets in the Galway Shopping Centre will be closing in the coming weeks. They have a great closing down sale at the moment if anyone needs to get hiking or camping gear. 06-Mar-2012: The Scout Shop will be visiting Galway from 5.00pm until 7.00pm on Thursday evening (8th March). 27-Feb-2012: Congratulations to Eoin H; Brain M; Sinead W and Roisin D on completing their Leadership training last weekend. Over 50 scouts from Galway and Mayo took part in the course over the weekend and all had a fantastic time. 24-Feb-2012: Congratulations to Sinead W; Roisin D; Eoin H and Brain M on the great news that each have achieved their National Scout Award. Congratulations to all. An awards preentation will following in the coming weeks. 22-Feb-2012: A very Happy Founder's Day to all the 13th Galway Scouts and all other scouts throughout the world!
