Upcoming Events:10-Apr-2012: Lets do it Global the Volvo Ocean Race from 30th June to 8th July 2012 Galway City will be hosting the grand finale of the Volvo Ocean race this year and Galway Scout County will be organising both land and sea based activities during this great event. The land based activities and camp which will be located close to the Global Village in the Claddagh and the water activities which are being organised by the Sea Scouts will be located at Lough Atalia. Both of these locations are in the City and adjacent to the main event area. Galway County Scouts would like to invite other Scouting Groups to come to Galway and experience this great event. All scouts in Galway are welcome to take part. More details to follow on Friday. 28-Feb-2011: Galway Scout County Paintballing will take place on March 11th. Cost is 25 per person which includes 400 paintballs. Contact your scout leader if you are interested. 28-Feb-2012: Peak is taking place over Easter from 22nd -29th April in Kerry. For those who don't know Peak is a week long training adventure for Scouts run in the Cappanalea Adventure Centre. Its an amazing experience for scouts and ventures aged 14-17 who want to learn the finer points of navigation, become self reliant at hillwalking in the Irish mountains and meet 35 other scouts from all over the country. The week builds up to an overnight expedition in the heart of the Reeks including kayaking, an abseil and camping in one of Ireland's last remaining natural oak forests. Places are limited to 36. For further information or to book on the course please contact one of your scout leaders. 21-Feb-2012: PL Training for scouts from Galway Scout County and Mayo Scout County will take place this weekend (24th-26th February 2012). This is a great course in showing the PLs of today (or tomorrow) what their role is within the patrol and within the scout section. The course comes highly recommended and an enjoyable weekend is guaranteed. For further details please contact one of the scout leaders. 21-Feb-2012: Galway Scout County AGM will take place on Friday 24th February 2012. Scout can attend this meeting if they wish.
